X1 if the car has Style Trim, X5 if not.

X5 (X55) is an SS only code, X1 is anything that's got Style Trim but is not a Z or SS396. You might see other letters for colors (like DG for dark (Fathom) green or LG for light (Frost) green). You're not going to see the letters SS.

I realize my car is no COPO,ZL1,396 or more car  but for a blue collar Camaro Lover My car is code 72 Hugger Orange, Black Vinyl Roof,....thanks for anything you can tell me....I am going in the next week or 2 undo the seat.....no X codes, no matching no. motor ...... long gone.....but I believe it is a real SS because of Old Steering Wheel W/Cherrywood(Deluxe Interior) ,Old Console Gauges,Factory 5K/7K Tach,12 Bolt Matching Date Code for car,Dual Fuel Lines for Car(old and hard to replicate),Dual Exhaust Tab ,Multi-Leaf ,28 Coil Hood Spring,Brake equalizer under Driver's seat...sorry to ramble for me ,I beleive it is a Style Trim car but will it show anything else for an SS W/Style Trim.....Eric tell me anything else you can tell me .......thanks ......:D..alan

You've got about all the circumstantial evidence you can have. Dual fuel lines and a 12-bolt could also indicate an original LM1 car (350/255HP) with that build date, but if it has SS hood and hood springs, it was probably an SS... or a previous owner went to extremely painstaking trouble to add all the things that point to an SS.

So, short of finding a 350 out there, somewhere, that has an HB suffix (if your TH350 is original to the car) and a partial VIN that matches your car, you'll never know.

Thanks Eric for all your help....It does have a Turbo 350.....have'nt checked to see if matching though...I probably am more happy with my late model Vortec (420 HP.) anyway for local car shows,I know it's not worth as much but when I hit it........oh well you know to each his own...........:D...I still love old car CSI........THANKS AGAIN.....alan
