I am looking for a quality set of headers for my 302 cu.in. 1969 z/28. manual steering and power brakes.
I want a set that actually fits, that i dont have to bang or dent to make em fit.
I would prefer a 1 3/4 but would settle for a 1 5/8.
What headers do you have and what did you have to remove to install.
thanks

I have dynomax 1 5/8 headers on my 69 350. Passenger side went right in with no problems. I don't have air condition. The driveside I held up while I dropped my motor in. I have power steering so it is a tight fit, but my tubes didn't have to be dented to fit. However someone made some extra clearence around the number 3 cylinder for the spark plug wire. This is definitely going to come in handy now that I installed trickflow angled plug heads. If your looking to route your spark plug wires underneath the headers, you might want to look around as there is not alot of room for the plug wires to go under the headers.

I have a set of 67-68 Z28 headers... which are the repros of the original Z28 headers from 67-68. I bought them, and have them sitting... paid 1700 for them. They are new repops...
I'd let go for 1500.00
They are the only ones that fit with plenty of clearance.. you can use your stock AC43 plugs and even use your heat sheilds as they will fit.
There isn't a finer set out there.. but they ain't cheap.
Let meknow if you are interested

Thorely 376Y1C from Jeggs is what I have and IMHO they fit better than any shorty header out there.

I've used Stahl headers before, and they fit like a glove. At the low power level of a 302 Chevy, I wouldn't go any larger than a 1-5/8" primary. You can pick up a set for less than $1K.
