69 camaro SS396 convertible

when I purchased the vehicle years ago, in the trunk, there were what I have now determined to be metal wire guards. Where do these go? I am starting to install the interior and am not sure where they go? Also, I posted a steering gear question in another post in the engine section and have now added some information with the gear part #'s. Sure would appreciate some help.
Thanks

Doug

Doug you need to be more specific (maybe some pictures), wire guards could be engine related (spark plugs) rocker related (under the sill plates) or ?? At least describe what they look like...

For your steering gear question it may not get answered in the engine forum, it really pertains to the cars suspension. I'll look for it and move it to the suspension forum. If it's in a post that is about engines as a second question then you should jump over to the suspension forum and post about it again.

Thanks DJD

Good point on the wire guards. These are the long metal guards. I have 4 of these that came with the car. They look like heat shields. It has this on it "K23R3274". I had posted this a long time ago and was told they were wire guards, however, I was so far from installing, I did not ask where they went on the car. I have the assembly manual and could not find them. Sorry to bother with this dumb question. However, where do they go?
Thanks for the help,

Regards,

Doug

It's not a dumb question. On an assembled car, they are under the carpet, and cover the wire channel on the top of the rockers. The longer piece is the front, and the shorter is the back. There's a side shot of one of mine in my vert, but I will go out and take some better ones. Back in a few...

Okay, the below photos are the driver side. The pieces are about the same length on a vert, so you have to go by shape. The ones with the tapered end are the fronts, and the taper goes all the way up front by the kick panel.

The two pieces overlap/interlock in the middle by the seat adjustment lever.

The rear piece extends under the rear arm rest, and fastens in front of the rear seat bottom.
