There is a bracket on the right side of my 69 mounted to the rail that the 3/8 fuel line goes through. What purpose does this serve? The hole in the bracket is square and the line can rattle around in it, am I missing something like a clip that holds that line on it tightly. Assembly manual does not show anything.

If that bracket is formed and installed properly, the lip on the inboard edge of the square opening keeps the line from rattling in the cross-car direction.

Thanks, What is the chance someone here has a pic for reference.

This was taken when it was up-side-down on the rotisserie and has a 1/2" line and non-OE gravel-guard.. but you get the idea of how the clip fits..

PS; Buy an Assembly Manual !

Man under that car looks great. Is that a factory bracket? I remeber mine having a slight bend in it.
The foam you have on your line between the tank and straps, nothing like that from the factory was installed? The reason I ask is my fuel lines (feed & return) move alot back there and I do not think they should, that is why I asked about the bracket. By the way only the feed runs through it not the return?

Here you go. Sorry about the crappy pic but I think you can see it good enough to see how it goes.

There is some sort of foam there to secure the fuel line between the tank and strap. It's all in the Assembly Manual..
I used some foam tubing that plumbers use to insulate hot water piping. :)

Mine looks like Dennis'. Last spring, the original fuel line spring-loaded clamp (where Dennis' worm-clamp is) was letting fuel drip past the hose. Scary! I had just raised the Projection fuel pump pressure and didn't think of the clamp until I smelled fuel. Terrifying is a better word. Mine has a proper clamp now. Braided hose too. In fact, the very next part of my car that I remove will be that clamp. The fuel will be pumped-out via the unhooked hose and the Retrotek system installed along with a new tank/sump/pump. I hate fuel leaks.
Edit: Well after taking 10 pictures I finally got this shot. Hey! I've only had this camera for NINE years!
The square opening on the bracket doesn't have a clip like a brake line. It just holds the fuel line tight against the frame. The original 3/8" line will probably be turned into a return line. I'll add another line larger than the 5/16" line seen next to it. I installed the little line back when the FI system was new in the early 90's. Time to move on.

Thanks guys. I am planning on replacing my lines and wanted to make sure the bracket is right. I guess the reason they rattle around is because I am missing the insulator that goes around the lines between the tank and strap. Any reproductions available or do I need to make one from plumbing insulation?

I would do like Steve did, or what I did was to cut a 3" piece of 3/8 fuel line and split one side and slide it over the fuel line. Put it where it needs to be and your good to go.
