Why can't you use a rear sway bar if you have traction bars. I have caltrac's on my car and was told that I could not use a rear sway bar if I have tractions bars.

I've used both, but mine were homemade slappers and an ADDCO, 3/4" rear S/B.

She pushed some at time's, but nothing a little throttle kick-out wouldn't take care of!

I think most of the rear sway bars won't work with the stock traction bar/torque arm because they're both trying to occupy the same mounting real estate on the rearend housing. Probably no problem with a set of slappers.

The ADDCO rear sway bar is a narrower "U" shape that mounts to the bottom of the rearend housing using two clamps and then goes up forwards and mounts to two brackets that bolt to the unibody rear S/F's on both sides and then has two links!

Nothing is in the way of any traction device's unless it would be one or possibly two factory traction bars!! Slappers and Cal's and the other are mounted off the spring/shock perches so are way over under the springs out of the way.

Traction bars are typically for launching the car from a dead stop, sway bars are for cornering... Usually you want one or the other. I'm sure they can be combined if the right parts are chosen. I would hope the folks selling the products would know. From there how much modifying are you up for?

What is the goal for your car? How wide of tires are you running and how big a sway bar are you using up front? Unless you are mini-tub'd and and have modified inner front fenders to clear very wide tires I doubt your cars cornering would be improved with a rear sway bar.

i have old style traction bars and put on a rear sway bar with little trouble. 67 single leaf spring. The sway bar mounted to the bottom of the inside bolts of the spring perch. The other links were attached to the bottom of trunk floor in front of fuel tank.

I agree with everyone here paceman. You can probably run both. That's PROBABLY. My new CE's work very well with my Addco.

Generally, I think you need a rear bar, especially with your tire sizes. When high traction tires are on a Camaro and it's cornered hard, the car will have excessive lean and some understeer without a rear bar. The bar helps balance the handling and reduces chassis roll.

Do you have the Global West rear springs? What type bushings are in them front and rear?
When you are part way into a corner, do you have to add more and more steering wheel turn to keep the car on line?
