I had the floor pans in my '68 Camaro coupe replaced. I want to make sure that any stiffeners and support members that may also have been removed were properly reinstalled. For what/where should I be looking?

The only support braces in the passenger compartment floor pan are the braces that the seat mounts to. The brace goes from the tunnel to the rocker panel. It has spot welds all the way around it, connecting it to the tunnel, rocker, and floor pans. Too look at it you will need to remove the seats, and pull up part of the carpet.

Austin, you think it cost you $0 to do this job? Let me ask then to whom the welder that you used belong to? Who donated all the cutting equipment (torch, sawzall, cut off wheel & air compressor)? You think that that doing things yourself does not cost money but if you stop & think about all the materials that went into the job you probably spent more than some of the prices listed above. I have done this job myself and have all the necessary tools to do the job. Granted I have used these tools for many other projects but if a person was to consider replacing floor pans or body parts of frame/frame structures and they did not already own the equipment, they would save tons of money by farming it out to a shop. There is not a project that I have ever done that cost me $0.. Some times I have come out pretty cheaply-but never $0.

Go69 your right but not so too. If it was only costing the consumer a couple hundred or so then I would say your right. But 531.00 6 years ago and 800.00 last year is alot of money for floor work period and there is no feeling like doing the work yourself. If you want it done right do it yourself. Of course this isn't always feasible but I believe the payoff of doing it yourself is worth it (if you can do it yourself). Like you said you use these tools for many other projects. Not everyone has a welder and maybe some of the other tools but most hands on people have a sawzall and maybe a air compressor and such. If you don't have most of the tools then you are probably not one of those people that would or could tackle a job like this so you would have to farm it out. Yours and mine are just opinions and I am not disagreeing totally but to me that alot of money for floor work. I don't know but to me it makes me upset that it costs that much and I would do it myself in spite of paying someone that amount for floor work. You are right in the fact nothing cost 0 and there are usually costs that you forget to factor in when figuring what it costs. Again its not for everyone but its not hard to make it look perfect if you take your time rather than pay someone thats doing it to get it out of their shop. Just my opinion

All of the tools used to do my floors cost me lots of money. I do bodywork for a living, I have the tools wether I use them on my own car or just customer cars. I don't knock anyone who hires this or any other job out. I have a friend who installs tile floring for a living (ask him how much it cost him to tile his kithen minus the tile).
