That's a nice looking original car. I kinda remember it or one very similar for sale in Ohio a couple months back? I'm not 100% on that but it looks familiar and I dont recall the hood ornament. That ornament brings back memories of my juvenile days. Me and my buddies would cruise town in the 70's looking for the expensive cars with the big shiny hood ornaments of the day. We'd liberate them and attach them to our ramblers, pinto's and vega's :) It was about the same time in life that I got my only high school A grade in art class with my caligraphy project with the quote "A juvenile delinquent is a boy who does what you did when young but gets caught".

Wow, my high school auto shop teacher had the same car with the white bumble bee stripe across the nose. He used to let us drive it after we worked on it. Man, that brings back memories!!!!

Ok I'm kind of a noob to all this. What's up with the hood arnament?
I've been floating around the Chevelle forums for a year and I was planning on looking for a Chevelle Vert, but this car looks sooo nice. I love the lines.

I'm not sure that's original paint. Sure doesn't look factory Madeira Maroon. Looks more like Royal Plum. Does that car have a black bumblebee stripe on it? Hard to see on this monitor at work. A Madeira Maroon car would have come with a white stripe, and only on an SS. Hrm, nevermind, in the picture of the engine, it doesn't look like it has a stripe on the nose. Still looks purple to me.
Peter, no Camaros came with a hood ornament, it's a add-on by a previous owner.
