View Full Version : Just fishin for a ballpark price..........
nikkisdad Jan 28th, 08, 10:39 PM I know its not a first generation, but I have a 1970 Z28 and I am ready to sell soon. I will describe good and bad. Good, it is a number matching LT1 motor and 4 speed car. It has the original wheels, it is a factory color of Daytona Yellow with black stripes and is painted that way. I really believe the interior is still the original, and pretty nice condition with a few tiny flaws. Grill, bumpers trim, glass all are real good. Floors are solid without repairs. It is a older restoration, and the quarters have been changed. It is nice under the hood as well, and the only missing items are the AIR pump, and tubing manifolds, and it has a mallory distibutor instead of the GM. 12 bolt posi is tight with the proper 3.73 gears, and I can tell you it is the smoothest, best shifting 4 speed I have ever owned. It will have a new set of BF goodrich TA radials when sold. Now what I consider the bad, it is a older restoration so it does have some minor paint glitches, but it shines very good still. The dash pad has started to curl at the front, the original radio has been replaced with a removable faceplate stereo and I am not sure if it has been cut or not???? The carpet is just starting to turn a little purple from fade, the seat covers are good, but have two weird small heat melt areas, not horrible, but a issue. The 360 horse LT1 acts just like it should, hot little bugger. Engine has factory intake, exhaust, heads, like I say the car could use a redo to be top notch, but I even put it in a car show two years ago with absolutely no embarrasment. It is just not sharp and new. Any ideas, I did check nada, and it varies 21k low 37k mid and 58k high. I do not have any paper on it, but it is a car I have know of for 25 or so years, and mostly been garaged. It has all sway bars, the gas pedal mount, it is a real Z car, thanks for any input, Mike. Oh yeah, I am funding college for my daughter and figured I would sell the least favorite Camaro first, is my reason behind the question. :beers:
Whoops, maybe I should have put this under the "whats it worth" section, my apologies.
parkbrau Jan 29th, 08, 12:39 AM dont know about the what its worth part Mike but I do know what it costs for an education. If you get the high end price that should be a drop in the bucket for funding college. Even with my Veteran's benefits, which my 2 girls are entitled to, I'm dishing out about 1500 a month for their College. Thats just for books, rent & utilities, car ins., Gas, food and an occasional celebration for good GPA. Tuition is paid by the state of california for children of disabled Vets.
So buff that bugger out and make her shine real nice and hope for the high end.
Good luck.

Thanks John, I know I have been paying in the area of 2,700 a month at times. Sometimes it is lower and I am thankful! I have been selling many NOS Camaro parts on e-bay, and a few ofmy antiques to keep up with it. I am thankful I have been a packrat, the stuff has done nothing but go up in value and sure helps keep ahead of that education curve.
RSSSfanatic Jan 29th, 08, 10:30 AM Dude, I know what you mean about the college costs - my girls are three and five, and I am already trying to save for them. I started getting some attactive offers for my 69 RS/SS 396 conv, and my wife's eyes lit up at the prospect of nailing their college costs right off the bat. But I am not THAT responsible! :)
Can't help much on the price, but with the prices on the first gen Z's, the second gen cars would have to start going up as well.
rich pern Jan 29th, 08, 12:59 PM I would say, as described, 25-30k today while prices are still down a little. Wait to spring, and I say 30-35k at least. It is REALLY hard to find a 70z with it's original drivetrain. Look on ebay, and you'll see that 90% of the 70's that you find are fakes, or NOM. Of that 10%, 8% are TH400 cars. Being a 4 speed helps alot. I sold a trashed out, but all #;s 4 speed 70 Z RS that needed everything for a friend for 13.5K this past november. Brown at that. I had people beating down the door for that car.
If you can hold out, I think you'd do much better on it in the spring. These cars have still not hit their stride yet either.
Is it a NOR car with the Z28 on the tag?
Floor Mount Gas Pedal?
12 Bolt Gear Ratio?
Good Luck,
Rich
