Hi guys, I have this 1611 carb on a 350 that I just rebuilt last night. I did everything perfect on the inside, thats all correct I went over everything 4 times and I cleaned it well. The linkage doesnt like to go back into place however. If im idling after its warmed up and i give it some gas it will stick up to the highest point the rpms jumped to and it will hang unless it give it a quick jab and it goes down to normal. I looked at the carb while it was on and if i push the linkage where the throttle return spring goes to pretty much foward it will kick back down and idle AT idle not hang. Does anyone have a idea how to fix this?

dose your throttle stick when the motor is not running?

Kinda sounds like to me that the linkage may be binding when the engine torques up?

Yes it does, if your familiar with the linkage arms the one that the throttle cable attaches to it will not go all the way foward like I stated earlier, u have to jab the peddle to get it to go back to rest. Im hoping you have the answer to my problem!

Im sure you will get some better info from tc but, the only thing i can think of is to uninstall the cable. If it still sticks its a linkage or something with your carb, if it doesnt its probly your cable(make sure the cable is were it was when you took it off, it could have moved causing a bind)

I was having the same problem with mine a while back and the guys here helped me figure it out. Like was stated earlier the throttle shaft was binding up. Mine was because I used too big of a cotter pin and was causing it to stick until I stabbed the throttle. Not the best explanation, but I can get a pic maybe tomorrow if you need it.

Yep, spring could be binding, might have to flip around. Or the gasket between the carb and the intake could be sticking out actually catching the throttle blades.

That would be alot of help Darren if you would please. Sounds like you had the same problem I did. Ill take a look down the carb tmw Justin and see if anything is out of the ordinary, the gasket is a eddy so it shouldnt be doing it.

Argh, new problem after I went through getting the air/fuel mixture right more or less off a little, it will bog if i take off a little faster or slow to the point where it almost dies. Would its a 1611 carb so its a 750 cfm where it needs to be for the pump arm the top hole, would setting it in the middle fix this problem?
