Does anyone have anyhthing postive or negative to say about these low friction ball joints? They are almost double the cost of the equivalent Moog parts but wondering if worth the added cost and are of similar quality? They claim these only have 2lbs. resistance vs. 50lbs. for stock.

Ask yourself this question; How long do "regular" ball joints usually last?

Super, bigger, new-improved doesn't always make sense.

I think he is asking whether or not anyone has seen benefits from the reduced friction they claim to offer? I have also been looking and contemplating making the switch to the Afco low friction ball joints, but I already have SPC upper control arms with Nascar style, screw in, rebuildable upper ball joints and am going with their lower control arms with the same style lower ball joints. I like the fact that they are rebuildable and screw in. I will never have to rent a ball joint press again. I can't complain about the Moog lower ball joints I have installed now into my lowers. Mine turns easily now so if they really do offer that much less resistance then mine would turn using a feather. You should call Mark at Savitske Classic. he knows his stuff. 610-346-8154.

Yes, and thus, my response. Charlie, how long do you think the "regular", "non-low-friction" ball joints usually last. I ask you the same question. If you plan of doing track races and such...maybe regular BJ's that might only last about 10-20yrs on "seasonally driven" (5K-10K miles per year) might not be sufficient :). That's my point. Or rather, that's what the OP has to ask himself.

Another example: I just bought a 1989 Toyota Camry for my 17yr old. 200K+ miles on it...and ball joints have never been changed. They probably need it, but it rides great. I'm just sayin'..........

I think you're the same one who wanted 4wh disc brakes because they would give you better stopping power...and you have no problem with the stopping power with the brakes you currently have? That's my point, overkill :)

Well based on the above comment that the Moogs operated very smoothly, I think I will order them vs. the double-priced Afco units. I'm already spending $300 more than I (and my wife) thought this coil-over conversion would cost so have to draw the line soon. I've been stairing at the Summit catalog :yes:for 2 nights now and she's  really getting concerned.

Thanks for the help in making this decision.

i thought he was asking about the low friction for a better ride, not longevity. the $80 howe precision ball joints are well worth the price, and i'll buy some for the 'bird when i get 2 seconds of peace and quiet to do so!

Lol, I'm not sure what he meant now :). But yeah, I have the Howe tall uppers. But to be honest, if I didn't need the extra length because of other mods, I would not have paid the $180 to SC&C vs $28 I could get em' for at Auto Zone. It was the length, not necessarily the quality, that I was actually going after.
