O.k. - can you tell I'm ordering some parts and debating parts....

How 'bout these machined solid steel tie rod sleeves with the lock nuts vs. the old-school sleeves. They are about $50. Anyone like them or dislike them or have any concern abouth the nuts vs. clamp method??

Thank you!

I have the Hotchkis pieces, and liked them; why wouldn't everybody want something better than those bendy, quick to rust OE replacement sleeves... until I read a little more here. I will have to try to find the thread, but it was pointed out that the open sleeves with a clamp were designed and used for a reason. If the wheel has an impact, the sleeve can give and minimize damage in other locations. It made sense. I'm not changing mine, but...

I'll see if I can find the thread.

I replace my old tie rods with the Hotchkis ones. I think they're pretty slick. I would think they would be easier to adjust. I just set mine to the same length as my old ones. Then once I got done with replacing all my front suspension parts, I took it to get it aligned. Plus it goes good with my new Hotchkis front sway bar.

Perfect - thank you for supplying those links! This info. and personal accounts gives me enough doubt/concern to avoid using them. My concern was that if the locking bolt loosens on either side you could be going uncontrollably in an unintended direction - not good! I'll stick with the stock ones which have done the job well for almost 40 years and still look as good as new. THanks for saving me $50 and possibly more.
