What the Heck, I contributed. Sure beats handing it over to the IRS. I wonder what amount it would take to be tax deductible ? Hope he gets it back on the road.

What a moron, this guy needs to get a job and quit begging for money.

Reminds me of the guy coming up on the job site looking for work. Ask him to do something and his back won't allow him. He will however take a few bucks from you to feed his habit. A sucker is born every minute. If you feel the need to give.......your church is a good place.

Heck, that car looks better than mine.

I don't think it's a big deal. Didn't hurt him to try, and doesn't hurt you to ignore it, or donate.

Very interesting to say the least.

The car looks very solid. Why would some take donor parts off from an original Z ? Must be a scam.

Psst!! Hey, I have this...um...bridge for sale. And I was wondering if you'd...

:noway:

You have a kind heart. Bigger than mine, for sure. Maybe a story about trying to keep his home out of foreclosure, a child that needs surgery and he doesn't have the funds for, etc... But to restore a 60's muscle car? Um..no. Sorry :noway:

I'd have no problem contributing if the finished car was to be sold, with the proceeds going to support a good cause. Not for this though! I guess you need to appreciate the guy's blatant honesty in some way, but really in poor taste IMHO.

This is electronic panhanding at its finest.

If he needs money to finish his car, maybe he should use Ebay to sell household junk he never uses, etc. to raise some funds. Maybe he should do odd jobs to earn more money, etc. If he does not want to do this, just sell it, take the proceeds, and bank it for the day he can buy one already done.

As Yakov Smirnov the comedian used to say, "America, what a country".

The entreprenurial spirit is alive and well.

I saw that yesterday and wondered if it was anyone from TC. I have to agree it looks like a pretty darn nice car to have been parted out. Love that Dusk Blue and white top. Allthough, I would rather donate a few bucks knowing it was going to restore a beautifull Z/28 than give to some bum who is just goning to buy beer. ;)

How about something like this for a donation. Heck, you might just win yourself a nice Chevelle. https://www.peace4allonline.org/news.php

The point is, you don't know what the money is going to. Even if it is to restore the car, this is nothing more than begging for money. Get a second job or whatever it takes. That's what I did.

I guess it would be EASIER to just beg for the money instead though...

Andy,

I totally agree with you. I also have worked 2nd jobs to pay for my toys. I guess my point was if I were going to give a handout, which I don't. I would rather see it go to something like this. I will say the guy has "Great Big Ones" asking the way he has. To each their own I guess.

:beers:

I see your point. I would rather give money to a friend to restore a classic car than give it to some "baby momma" to buy Under Armour for her sixth child with her fourth boyfriend.

Hey.. If anyone is in the giving mood, you can bid to have your car on a show logo and all the proceeds go to the Kaleida Stroke Center of WNY. And you get a tax deducation for it too

And the bonus of your car on the logo for the shirts, dash plaques, flyers, etc.

I had to save up my pennies for 8 years to finally finish my Camaro. Worked my butt off. So should he. I wouldn't expect handouts like he is asking.

To each their own, but I think it's just another offshoot of the "entitlement mentality". Usually it is someone feeling that someone owes them something... that they are entitled to it. Here I see the same thing, only the grifter is tugging at the heart strings of the muscle car enthusiast. After all, "...if a Z-28 isn't worthy, what is?" Hogwash I say, let him suck it up and earn it like the rest of us.

I would rather give $1000 to my kids' school towards a new computer lab, or $2500 to the local women's shelter, or let a Katrina victim stay in my guest house free of charge and pay all her bills for a few months than to donate one red penny to someone who has nothing more than a mastery of wurds and good story. I would just as soon start a campfire with two one dollar bills than to give them to that guy. Good thing I'm in a charitable mood, else I would tell you what I really think. :D
