i just got my ls1 running. its a carb setup, i have a sumpped stock tank and an external edelbrock street 120gph fuel pump. right now just to fire the car i have the pump hooked up to a keyed 12v source. the car isnt drivable yet so i will wire the relays in later.

my main question is, do most of you electric fuel pump guys have toggle or on/off switches for your pumps? i have to key my ignition box to load tunes and things and dont want my fuel pump running every time i key the car.

also, im running 2001 F-body cooling fans mounted to my stock radiator. would it be wise to have one fan hooked up to a thermostat switch (200* on 190* off) and hook the other up to a toggle switch. that way i can cool the car without it running?

I'm using the LS1 PCM to control all of that (also running EFI).

For fans, I like doing the dual-speed thing like the stock LS1 does. You could do the same thing without a computer. See my diagram here:

At the bottom left of that diagram where the lines connect to the PCM, you could run those to old fashioned thermostat switches that you screw into the radiator or engine.

For manual override, you'd need to add some switches. Can probably come up switch a slick way to rig up the switches so that one is On-Off-Auto, and the other is Hi-Lo-Auto. I'd have to think about that some more.

I don't have a switch for my fuel pump--just let the PCM handle that. The PCM will turn it on to prime the system, then shut it off until the engine starts turning, and then turn it back off when the engine stops turning. If I need to kill the fuel pump manually, I pull the fuel. I've heard of people using an oil pressure switch with a relay on carb'd engines with electric pumps.
