The following link is for 1968 valve covers. The seller says they are original as you can see. Do the valve covers for 1968 have any identification numbers (part numbers) on them? How do I know then if they are the real deal?

Because they sure aren't cheap!

OMG - I'm a rich man :hurray:
Those look to be the last of the GM Performance type sold through dealers into the 90's.
The originally installed units, and early NOS, did not have the heavy 'wrinkling' marks on the ends of the covers that the later units tend to show.
Chrome looks like the later units also.
I have the original boxes in the shop and the GM part number was #3923226 and they were sold individually (note: the 1967 HP327 was #6272227 and they don't have holes, so his info is wrong ...) - the later part number for the pairs sold through dealers changed and I don't have that number here right now.
I'm going to buy lottery tickets :waving:

Mine have that wrinkle on one end of the two. Did you see the oil cap for $99.00? Geez.

I sold a set GM NOS in the box a few months ago on ebay and they only brought $300 at the end of the auction. I was so sure they'd bring $500 I didn't use a reserve :(
