View Full Version : Holes in Inner Fender.

My right hand inner fender has four holes drilled at what looks to be the factory dimples.
I have been right through my Factory Assembly Manual (1969) and can't find anything that mounts using these holes.

I am not sure if these holes were drilled at the factory or some time in it's 23 year history before I owned the car.

These two holes are adjacent cylinders 135&7.

..and these two are behind the washer bottle, but are not any of the 3 dimples used for mounting the RS vacuum tank.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Crikey, the master cylinder is on the passenger (American) side. Who can even begin to make sense out of that car?

Apart from steering, heater and master, it's all the same. ;)

No ideas?

OK, they're getting filled-in to look like dimples again.

I'm trying to get a reference from your pictures but, I think the top picture is where my wiring harness clips are mounted and the lower one might be where my ac heater hose valve mounts.

I don't know what theyre for.

The holes in the top pic arent for the wiring harness. They are too low on the inner fender and the straps require two holes each.

The 2nd pic, the RS tank is the only thing I can think of that would mount in that area.

Yeah, the holes for the wiring clips are higher up and are 1/4" non-threaded. They also have the clips in them as we speak!

The A/C heater hose valve would also be on the other side and further back, above the control arm.

I can't think of why these dimples were ever made, let alone what they were used for.
I checked through my 67 & 68 AIMs looking for clues, even though 69 inner fenders are unique to 69s.. Still no ideas.

Thanks anyway guys.

Sorry Mark, I said right hand inner in my opening post. (It's too late to edit.)

I still can not decephir where you are at ... Left hand, right hand ... How about PASSENGER side, or DRIVER'S side of engine compartment ... You have the 3/ 4 holes for the rally sport windshield washer fluid tank ... A/C hoses, what other options was your vehicle possibly built with

The left hand side of the car is your driver's side.
My driver's side happens to be on the right. (I am in Australia)

The RS washer tank and A/C hoses mount on the car's right inner fender. I am referring to the left.
Thanks ;)

Is it true that engines run backwards in the southern hemisphere? :)

No, but the exhaust corkscrews out the pipe opposite of here.
