Guy called me today and asked if I would be interested in trading my 67' for his:

02' Camaro SS 35th Anniv. Convertible with 500 miles. All docs!

Car is red and is an auto :(

I researched these and only 9XX were made in this combo.

What do you guys think?

My car is pictured: 67' RS/SS (badged but real RS), big block, 4 speed, 12bolt

I would Hang on to the '67. Real Metal, Hardly no Plastic, an Engine you can see and work on. Nothing looks, feels or drives like a big block car. Plus your's is a True Classic. Not a speculation classic.

Kelly Blue Book values his at 21K. Do you want an '02? I would think yours is more marketable for cash than his. I would be very surprised if he could get someone to pay him that amount.

I vote to keep the '67, but this is a 1st gen site, right? :beers:

If that 02 was a 6spd I'd be all over that deal. It is still probably a good deal for you. Are you going to drive it or flip it??:D
You would come out good in the deal and have a car that gets 18-20 mpg and runs real strong.
Depending how good that big block runs the 02 could give it a good 1/4 mi. run.

Remember.....we know what you paid for the 67.

haha, aways have to bring that up eh?

Iv'e seen some real nice 02' SS cars (HT) go in the low 20's with low miles. And yes, flip it I would :)

The market for the 4th gen is all kids who don't haver any money right now. Go over to LS1tech and see how many 4th gens are for sale and what they are getting for them. Your 67 is far more marketable, us old guys have more free money than them kids do. Keep the 67.

Don't do it.....unless you really prefer the fourth gen. Then get lots of money in the deal.

Lots of asking prices for the 02 SS vert in the $20Ks; don't know if they actually sell there. Here's a pretty similar car with a "lot" (relatively) more miles that sold for just under $20K. I'd take the other one shown with it...

No way would I trade a 1st gen for any 4th gen. Especially yours, nice car. Apologies to any 4th gen owners, but I don't care for their styling. Don't care how fast they are or how great the gas mileage. You'll never get the thumbs up :thumbsup:driving the '02 you get with the '67!

My opinion, for what it's worth.

i wouldnt trade either, i think the 67 will sell alot better than the 02. remember, you dont want to get into a worse situation. right now being winter, i think is a bad time to sell for us northerners. jmo

67 will go up in value more and quicker.we all know that. now a 2002 will they go up 30 years from now. right now first gens are up. seconds are just starting to go up. 4 years ago i had a 1994 camaro with 6 spd and only got 2500 bux. with t tops. had to deal to get that. first they got to hit rock bottom and then they go up.2002 now got to wait about 20 years. 67 will get older faster.

Dont Do It.!!

I have a 97 SS .. and when I purchased it I got "WOW , nice Car" and now .. its like a standard camaro... people dont even look twice. On the other hand when I take out my half primed / half blue 67 RS .. I get so many compliments.

but to make a long story short. Does'nt matter How many cars were made with this type of combo in that 02 SS ... So what! Big Deal! .. The guy would be getting the better deal .. Not you.!

I get asked to trade All the time .. I just say .. "Nope, Sorry"

I have both a 67 Camaro (see sig) and a 2002 Z28 A4 with mods (CAI, LT's, TD's, 3.73's & tune) that runs 13.1/107 in the quarter. It's a nice quick driver (the 02) but, although I have no intentions of parting with either, it would go long before the 67 goes. But then again I've had the 67 for more than 20 years now and it's like a part of the family.

I would never do it the 4 th gens are plentiful get one with a few miles on it and save $ I don't believe those cars will ever be worth the 1 st gen. I think you will regret it later.

Keep the First Gen all the way till you can ride your great grand children in it.By a Honda Civic for gas mileage and ride the 67 on the weekends for fun.Thats if this is an affordable action for you.

With the first gen, you got a piece of auto history... with the other? In time perhaps?

The 4th gens are bringing some cash but it's the 98-02 cars with the LS1's anything else is just a parts car. Watch the price drop when the 5th gen comes out, that when I plan to get an 02 Z28 or SS.

My neighbor 3 doors up has a HT red 02 SS 35th anniv.
Yawn.
Don't get me wrong, nice car, he even hammers on it pretty often, I see drag radials on it once in awhile for open track nights, but when I park my 67 in the driveway,
his isn't even looked at.
Guy doesn't even acknowledge me, prob cause I used to roll by on my Suzuki Hayabusa, got 1 evil look from him, now doesn't even acknowledge me at all. Prob lost to a 'Busa bad before, got a rude awakening...who knows...

It's worth the same whether he paid 1 dollar or 1 million dollars.

The difference is what he could make (and I'm sure report the capital gain on his taxes) :)

I was just breaking Justin's chops. Nothing else meant there.
I was serious about the swap though. I now that a 67 with a 454 is going to get all the votes here,BUT despite all the nay sayers the '02 Anniversary car is a good investment car IMOP. I "think" that Justin is more into turning cars which is fine, but don't be so quick to write off the 35th anniv. cars.
I can remember when the Pace cars weren't so popular. It's all in what you want/need out of a car.
