I just purchased a 69 Camaro that needs almost all the fenders quarters hood ect. replaced. Is there a company that has better fitting metal, or is there some to avoid. Thanks Clint

Goodmark!

Its all the same...different boxes and prices. We are distributors for all of the major brands.

The same products, made on the same tooling in the same places overseas are sent here, re-boxed and marketed under the various brand names.

Having said this, the quality is pretty high across the board right now.

Is this really true,so goodmark and dynacorn are the same sheet metal in a different box if so why do some body men prefer goodmark over dynacorn.I'm curious because my Buddy is a goodmark dealer and he doesn't like dynacorn and has installed both. They are made from the same tooling for sure?

It could be possible... I work in a shop atm that makes Filter stuff, for filtering arsanic outta water for houses, also seen some older automotive filters used for cars that summit used to sell.. These Automotive Filters were the exact same design, but 2 Different company names if not more were buying them, Anodizing them different colors and etching there names on them, we also make the same filter baskets for different copanies but the are exactly the same.

Id hafta say with sheetmetal being ranged in gauges to where what ever coil was ran when it could very .005 - .015 so no two pieces will ever be stamped the exact same. they are always gonna have memory or spring back differently.. I bet some of goodmarks inventory has good fitting quarters where a few arent so good, same with dynacorn and the chinese.. Now with the american made stuff.. I bet they have some higher tolerances on this or use more lube on the die or some othe methods or trying to stay consistant.

Even the original metal back in '69 had some variances in it. If it didn't fit right, or had some minor damage, it went into the replacement part inventory. We had a rubber company here that made fan belts -same deal. All came off the same roll, but stamped for several different companies. Hoses too.

My step brother used to work a Fischer Boby in Hamilton Ohio. He said he remembers making camaro quarter panels and they were a little off they were cutting them up and throwing them in the metal trash.

Boy dont you wish we had those quarter panels now.

Actually the older NOS sheetmetal from the late 80s, early 90s before it was retired was mostly junk! I will never forget how bad 69 Camaro quarter panels from Chevrolet were in 1987-1992 when the panels were still available for $186, when I was doing restorations of COPOS, YENKOS, Z28s, and no reproduction was available. I would much rather install and tweak a reproduction panel then a NOS piece from the worn out dies that had to be retired because they were so bad. The new US made sheetmetal that is being promted from the original dies, appears to have the same fitment issues as the last pieces from the dies.

As Bob mentioned, we are distributors for Goodmark, Dynacorn, OE. In some rare cases each may make the same part, but often, it is private label, you make this and I will make that.
