View Full Version : 67 conv. frame mounting help, PLEASEEEEE
RAGMARO Feb 3rd, 08, 04:20 PM Hi all, I am getting back to putting my 67 conv. back together. I did not take this car apart, having bought it by the trailer load. I have the manual top frame ( With a top installed ) in rough placement and a bag of bolts marked "conv top frame mounting" I have read and reread the Fisher book, and any thing else I could find but still not sure which of these bolts go where. Several of these bolts are square shank, almost pan head, a couple are long carriage like and some are very short. Fisher body book has names to bolts but does not tell me which are which. PLEASE HELP !! Where can I find photos or instructions? Anyone have a 1st gen conv. with the interiour panels out that could take a few digital photos for me? Thanks !!!!!

RAGMARO Feb 4th, 08, 01:31 PM Thanks Kevin, That helps but is a shot of a power top, so I am thinking a manual requires these funny bolts? Anyone ???? Thanks, Semi topless - Bruce
KevinW Feb 4th, 08, 01:46 PM Nope, same bolts. The carriage type bolts are for the dogbone of the top. You should have 2 each side, plus washers and locknuts. One bolt is the pivot, the other is for the ram (power) or spring assembly (manual) end point. The square shank bolt (1 each side) and serrated sleeve & Nut is for the eccentric arm of the top. Nut is towards the center of car. Captured/toothed bolts (3 per side) hold the spring assembly bracket to the car, bracket hinge bolts (2 each side) hold the Ram or springs which pivot on the bolt.
RAGMARO Feb 4th, 08, 06:42 PM Thanks !!!!!! Top is now bolted on, got some adjustments to make, but WOW !!! Top is on and looks like the cover is very in very nice shape. I think I have 2 bolts that do not go on this car. That was really messing with my head! they were in the top bolts baggie, but I see no place for them. they are 4 5/8 long, have a carrige head then a 3 1/2 inch long x 1/2 inch round shank with about 1 inch of thread on the end -- looks like a 3/8 fine thread. Am I missing there place? Thanks again !!!! Bruce
