Thanks wagonman Feb 3rd, 08, 10:20 PM pertronics. use a full 12 volts to a 1.5 ohm coil.....the pertronics coil is reccomended.... this will retain the stock look.... loneagle Feb 3rd, 08, 10:36 PM I also use the Pertronix setup. Igniter I and Flamethrower coil. I've been running it for 10 years now with no problems! http://www.pertronix.com/prod/ig/ignitor/default.aspx drdave69 Feb 4th, 08, 05:03 AM pertronics. use a full 12 volts to a 1.5 ohm coil.....the pertronics coil is reccomended.... this will retain the stock look.... How did you accomplish getting the full 12 volts to the coil? I have an Ignitor II sitting on the shelf and could grab the Flamethrower coil to change my points over but I just need an idea on how to override the resistor wire. 67 Plum Feb 4th, 08, 06:42 AM How did you accomplish getting the full 12 volts to the coil? On my 67 I ran a wire from the ING. fused tab in the fuse box. It uses a stock HEI module also which is nice when you're on the power tour and need a part. 68fan Feb 4th, 08, 10:07 PM I'm Going With Pertronics And Flame Thrower 400bird Feb 5th, 08, 12:43 AM How did you accomplish getting the full 12 volts to the coil? I have an Ignitor II sitting on the shelf and could grab the Flamethrower coil to change my points over but I just need an idea on how to override the resistor wire. take the resistor wire out of the firewall plug and solder a normal wire in its place you will have to remove the individual pin from the connector (can be difficult but do able) then get the resistor wire out of the crimped on pin (or get a new one) solder in a new wire (i think i used 14 gauge) reassemble and go 68fan Feb 5th, 08, 04:02 PM Why do I need to make these changes 400bird? 400bird Feb 6th, 08, 12:29 AM I was just giving another alternative to what 67 plum suggested, both work the same If you need full 12 volts to the pickup (or whatever you would call the electronic pickup-Pertronix piece) or coil you would use either what 67 plum or I did on our cars |
