I am doing my engine compartment and engine over and when cleaning the distributor off there were 2 swipes of green paint on the side of the distributor. It had ot on each side of the vacuum advance. Is this suposed to be there? Was it done in the factory for some reason?

Yes the paint dabs should be there. Factory marks
