Welcome Jason, I have a 69 Pro-Street with a diagonal link,I have a 468 500hp with 2" headers with 3 1/2" collectors.I think I'm going Race pro mufflers with a X pipe and dump behind the tire. Do you have any recommendations for which X pipe and if race pros a the wright ones for a not to loud but a good rumble at a slow rpm but quiets down at a drivable tone. If you can maybe you can shoot me some part #s over with some prices and if I can maybe I'll get them from you. This is 304 stainless I think I want the X pipe that runs tight to the tunnel the 14" 3" side inlet 3" center outlet two 3 1/2" collectors and may be some fittings not sure which fittings though may be you can assist with the fitting list I should get.All will be 3" 304 If you can email me with your shop number.Thanks...... Dave

Welcome Jason.
Can you do custom X-pipes? Or at least get more info than they manufacturers publish?
I run a flow 17139 with Borla muffs on a 68 vert. I'd like to change to an X, but the pipes are all welded up, and they tuck up into the tunnel. I have no room for movement in how far apart they are. I'd need a straight to straight X with a specific center to center distance. Some of the peices for C3 vette's look like what I need, but no one publishes the center to center. I'll get a measurement later.

Jim, If you get me a rough measurement and description of what your looking for I will do some homework and see if I can come up with something that will work for you.

I'm looking for something along the lines of pypes XVT10, 2 1/2" (expanded to fit over 2 1/2" pipe) alluminized steel, with EXACTLY 7 1/4" between centers. Then I could just cut the middle out of my system, slip it on, and weld it up.

Jason, I had posted those dimensions last week, no reply from you. If you can find or make that X-pipe, I'm ready to buy it.

Hi Jason

I was wondering do you have any pictures showing the installation of Magnaflow part # 15895 exhaust system on a 69 Camaro? Thanks!

Jason, Could you please review this thread ........................
http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=85980&highlight=15895
and advise with your opinion...........

So far I'm getting stonewalled by MAGNAFLOW.............I received the following explanation, but side to side offset is NOT the problem....The problem is the differences in length at slip fit between the over the axle pipes and the X-pipe assy...SEE my pictures on linked thread.........

During the development process it should be noted the majority of cars are NOT symmetrical. For obvious reasons applications have to accommodate driver related inputs such as steering, pedals and shift linkages. Also the driveline does NOT travel down the middle of the vehicle in most applications. Due to ring and pinion engagement the input yolk of just about rear axle is offset to one side. In other case the motor and transmissions are not set down the middle of the car for consideration of weight distribution and other fitment issues.

In building a system you can ignore this and let a truly symmetrical system hang lower to accommodate driveshaft travel or you can offset the exhaust to allow for the tightest configuration for optimal ground clearance. As can bee seen in the picture the system aligns itself with the offset of the driveshaft which will make for a variation in length from DS to PS. In other cases the lengths from side to side will vary for packaging or believe it or not bending limitations. These accommodations are necessary if function is preferred over form.

Anyone can make a single part and mirror it. We do not … we build to what works best on the car … not what mathematically measures out. Being an engineer I know what should add up and I look at the numbers as much as the finished products but also being a mechanic with over 15 years experience I can tell you perceptions and actualities are no always in the same ball park. Our parts fit and look great in place … we make a concerted effort to make this the case. We use all the technology and means we have to build parts that may not mirror from side to side, but when installed have the right fit.

Welcome Jason!!! I am also looking for an Xpipe. I have a Procharged 468 with 3" exhaust going into Dynatech mufflers up over the axle with the flowmaster Camaro tailpipe kit. I want to get an Xpipe, what do you suggest?
