Hopefully Saturday I'm going to look at what is supposed to be a 1 owner all original numbers matching restored 67 327 auto plain jane. I know what to look for as far as the numbers go but this car was restored about 5 years ago and honestly I don't know what to look for to determine how well the restoration was done or how close to original it is now. Unfortunately the owner passed away 2 years ago and I'm talking with the widow who seems to know more than most ladies but doesn't know alot of details. She does know enough to be asking what I think is top dollar for the car but it's the year I want, the color I want and if the resto was good and it runs good I shouldn't have to put money into it. Suggestions please, thanks guys.

I wonder if her husband took any pics during the restoration. The pics could tell a pretty good story on how well things were done. Panel fitment and detection of body filler would be a great start as far as the body is concerned. Your '69 looks like a sweet car, looks like you did pretty good with that!

Body panel fitment, maybe a set of 2X12 2- or 3-board high ramps to drive up onto to view underneath, all accessories work, general appearance.

Your case is different, the car is the right year, color, maybe the doable options, and you will have to put money into it.

Good luck at any rate, if it has a few things I didn't like, but look good, it would have me hooked. Looks are everything, don't kid yourself.

Thank you for the compliment on my 69 but honestly I will have to say that I got pretty lucky with that one. At the time I bought it I didn't know what to look for and could have really gotten screwed over, I bought it with my heart and not my head but it's a good car in great shape. I have some good feelings about this 67 but I know alot more about them now than I did then and don't want to push my luck I might run out, lol.

Pull the backseat if she will let you. That could give you an idea of what the floor boards are like.

Let her know how much the car will mean to you, my guess is she would want it to go to someone who would treasure it (unless her deceased husband ignored her over the car).

well you know just as your other camaro vin tag codes. engine rear tranny. original color to what is now. frame rails in rear. floor boards and in trunk. rockers. it is all same body rot or cover over from 67 to 69. take a magnet with you where places are known to rot and than bondoed it should stick as to show metal not bondo.

I plan on taking my digital camera with recharged batteries, a pad of paper and pen to record the numbers, my rechargable hand held drop light, a large refrigerator magnet in a plastic sandwhich bag to check the body. I would like to start the car cold, let it warm to idle and drive it around the block. I don't want to take up to much of her time and I don't want to ask to many questions. I would also like to see her original owners documents and POP. Then I'm going to go to the CRG and date check everything and go from there. This time I want to do this in an as educated manner as possible. If I'm going to pay top dollar for it it's got to be worth every penny of it.
