: Pics of first gen spoiler

This may sound like a really weird request, although I'm needing pictures of the underside of a first gen spoiler. I got to thinking about all the work I'm putting into the rear sheet metal and pitty the person that may run into it, as I don't know how I'd take it. http://www.mofbody.com/forums/images/smiles/smile.gif
With that in mind I'm planning on grafting a 3rd brake light into the spoiler in addition to my LED tails to make sure they know I'm stopping. I've been looking at OEM units and have found a few sets of small LED based tail lights that I'll be using. Before I make a decision on what I'm going to use, I need to know what kind of room I'm working with.

I'm assuming that the spoilers are hollow, with some webbed supports. I don't mind hacking out some of the webbing, although need to know the spoiler material thickness and how much forward/aft room I have to work with. I plan on mounting it from within so there are no externally visible attachment points.

Thanks for the help!

Yep, that's exactly what I'm doing.
I didn't see a picture of the under side of the spoiler, did I miss it?

I've found a cheap OEM LED light that I feel will easily fit within the spoiler. I haven't yet picked up a spoiler and would like to verify it's constructed the way I remember it.

Just curious....from a resto only guy....

What's the appeal of adding the third brake light to your Camaro ?

Safety or Looks ?

Safety. Anything that reduces the chances of getting your original or NOS quarters and tailpan destroyed is worth deviating from the cars original looks.

Wonder if someone makes a led brake light bulb that blinks at like 4 cycles/sec. that would get someone's attention.

This may all depend on your area, although this is potentially illegal. I've heard of people being required to rewire the light due to it flashing with the turn signals. These cars aren't required to have them, due to year of manufacture, although if you do have them, it has to function properly.

You can, however, wire it to quickly flash a few times when applying the brakes. I'm building a small circuit to do just that. it will flash a few times seconds with a 1/10 second delay before staying fully on. In my tests it really draws your attention to it without technically breaking the law.

I have seen a 3rd brake light flashing on a vehicle before, in stop and go traffic. It was very visible, and also VERY irritating, as it was stop and go traffic and ended up flashing almost constantly.

Heres the underside of a 69 spoiler.

Excellent. Thanks Johnny. I appreciate it.
There's a little less space in there than I had originally envisioned, although I don't think I'll have much trouble making it fit.

There was a show recently on Musclecar I think, and they grafted a small LED strip into the back of a car, filled the gap with epoxy, then sanded down the strip flush. Painted after. Looked cool and clean.

Frenching LED's into bikes is done all the time. There is one guy that applies special paint over the whole deal, and you can't even detect a light is there until power is applied.

If it's the same show I saw, I believe it was on Trucks. They have LED lights in their project HRT. It did look awesome when completed.
