I might have the chance to buy a original 1969 RS SS 396 with 36,000 original miles,Daytona yellow with black stripes, white houndstooth interior. The car is supposed to be in excellant condition.I think it is an automatic trans.I have a friend going to look at it this weekend.I hope that there is a build sheet. What is it worth if everthing is correct. What is it worth in its excisting condition,Thanks Gene

Look at it this way.
A fully restored numbers L34/L35 auto = $45-55K
A fully restored numbers L34/L35 4 speed = $50-60K
A fully restored numbers L78 auto = $75-80K
A fully restored numbers L78 4 speed = $80-90K
A fully restored numbers L89 any tranny = North of $100K

Deduct from that figure for problems and/or resto cost.

From Washington, it could very well be a Van Nuys car...odds of finding a build sheet go way up.

Unreal, how much does convertible add to the value? I have a Van Nuys RS/SS 396 conv with the 4sp, garnet red/black, that will be starting a restoration soon. Never rusted or wrecked, totally original 75K mile car. Just wondering because the offers hav already started for the car.

I'd guess add $15K to L34/35, and $20-25 for L78 and add $75-100K for L89. I can't recall the number for sure, but I think an unrestored L89 sold recently for around $175k.
