I have one that's a two bolt. '73 or '74 as I recall. Not sure what's the majority but I'd guess two bolt.

there not all high nickle......

i was always told that if the block had 010 020 cast on the back of the block(behind where the flywheel would go) it was high nickel content etc.

yes if a block has a 020 on the back it is a high nickel 20% nickel block

20% nickel? That's a lot of nickel.

Nickel is about $12.50 a pound, a bare block weighs about 160#. 32# of nickel would be worth about $400.
Tin is about $7 a pound, 16# of tin would be worth $112. No wonder these blocks are so sought after.

I think its 1% and 2% not 10% and 20%........................so 3.2 pounds and 1.6 pounds........

Blocks cast in Canada were all high content to help block survive cold temps without cracking. They could have been two or four bolt. All truck blocks are high content and are four bolt to survive hours of WOT use (big trucks with a SBC motor all had 6.17 or there about rear gears to accelerate the truck through a stop light before it cycled back to red. :D)

sorry for any confusion.

i've had dozens of the 010/020 blocks thru the years, and only one had 4 bolt mains. it was out of a pickup, and had an 8" balancer on it.

20% nickel? That's a lot of nickel.

that is a lot of nickel.......
