MCGOO Feb 8th, 08, 10:27 PM Hank,
I've been racking my brain trying to remember the name of a company that I think is a sponsor here. Hopefully someone will know who I'm talking about & post it here, or maybe my grey moment will pass & I'll recall who it is.
I do remember the rads, they were great looking American made replicas of the original rad. Price was very reasonable too.

130fe Feb 9th, 08, 05:49 AM I have a Be-Cool in mine and don't have any problems.
tgifford5 Feb 9th, 08, 06:10 AM Are you going to run a mechanical fan or electric? You shouldn't have to do any cutting to get good cooling. With any of those mentioned above. I see a lot of guys like their direct fit radiators from Summit. I have a 69 also and just ordered a BB aluminum radiator and dual fan set up from Entropy on ebay. Very nice looking set up, looks like the Ron Davis dual fan pictured in another recent post. Cost was $700 with the dual wiring kit. Should get it about Wed.
JimM Feb 9th, 08, 06:38 AM Alumitech, BeCool, Griffen, and Ron Davis all make very nice "coolers."
Summit's Direct Fit radiator, made by Northern, does an excellent job as well, at a very attractive price.
prostreet69camaro Feb 9th, 08, 07:56 AM Just make sure your run a additive or antifreeze in the radiator. The first one I had was a Griffen and I ran the additive that Eastwood sells and in about 5 years it had 5 holes in the middle of the radiator. I called about it and they said it was electrolis and not grounded right. I took a digitial meter and checked it and it was grounded correctly. Could have been the additive was not right plus I was using distilled water. I bought a Be Cool and have not had any problems.
emperor91108 Feb 17th, 08, 12:44 AM They are all going to be pretty similar assuming the same measurements. I would also take the fan you use with your setup into great consideration. I am using a dual flex-a-lite fan and it really moves the air to keep things cool.
Pro-Street69Camaro468 Feb 17th, 08, 05:17 AM I used Raceware dual 11" had to cut the core support a little.Talk to Dave he's a nice guy here a link with his info.

MileHigh69 Feb 19th, 08, 10:02 PM I bought one of these for my big block and really like it. Cools well. Has two electric fans. Buy his harness kit also. His prices are unbeatable.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=300198898696
jbird Mar 2nd, 08, 03:18 PM my vote is becool they have several setups
Fred Ficarra Mar 2nd, 08, 05:09 PM Here's my Griffin. No complaints. It's from Summit and an exact match to my original. (except it doesn't leak.;))

67CamaroRS/SS Mar 5th, 08, 08:50 AM I run a BeCool big block radiator in my small block and did just what you said. I opened up the core support to allow full core exposure to incoming air. I did not have to drill new bolt holes because they were in the same place. Only the core is 2" wider. Make sure you get the WIDEST core you can, NOT THE THICKEST. I also run a Flex-A-Lite electric fan with shroud. It produces 3300cfm. I can sit in 90*-100* weather and the car never overheats. I do have a Weiand high flow water pump and a Stewerts high flow/balanced thermostat. The car runs cool.
steve's 69ss Apr 4th, 08, 04:19 AM The Be Cool company is about 5 miles away from my house. I dont have one but I think everyone else in town does. They are really cool to deal with. They have a cruise and car show every summer. Give all kinds of stuff away. I will go with a Be Cool next winter.
tumper Apr 4th, 08, 09:27 AM I run a Fluidyne and cannot get the thing to overheat!! These are a little thicker than the other radiators because of the size tubes they use so it equals having 1 1/2 of the other radiators. I run it with a Mark VIII fan and short water pump.

There are many different radiators out there. Is a Be Cool radiator that keeps your car temp at 180* better than a Summit direct fit that keeps your car at 180*? I think and read that many owners have there preference, so it comes down to what you can afford and what you want your car to look like and maybe freeing up HP if you go with elect. fans. I don't think you should have to cut your support to get more surface area for cooling. I was looking for more bling, that I could afford. I purchased the same as Milehigh69. It looks good, has the dual elect. fans and was about $300-$400 cheaper than the Be Cool. It too was a direct fit. My old radiator did not over heat and ran about 190*. So if my new radiator runs at 190* is it more efficiant? I'm hoping by using the elect. fans I can free up a few more HP. Have fun deciding!

Depends on how long it takes to cool it down to 190*
Be cool radiators,,,,people say will drop your coolant temps 10* or so from a nice 4 row brass radiator, from what I hear.(could be BS) Have you heard anything like that from the radiator that you bought?

jrhbb Apr 7th, 08, 05:03 PM I was actually about to post a question about what radiator to buy and lucked up on this post. Not trying to hijack it, but here goes. What about the universal fit alum. radiators from jegs. I think it was Car Craft a couple of years ago bought one and was pleased(I know, I know. It's Car Craft, but still) I tend to side with tgifford5 on this. I can't afford to pay that much ($1000) for a radiator and fan combo, so if I can get by with a cheaper unit that may not be as "healthy" but still gets the job done. That's what I'll do. I wouldn't mind making some mounts for them as well. So universal would suit me. Enough rambling. I said all of that to ask this. What size would you get if you were limited to (or comperable to) something from jegs( http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/KeywordSearchCmd?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&N=0&Ntt=radiator&Ntk=all&Nty=1&D=radiator&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallany&Dx=mode%2Bmatchallany&searchTerm=radiator). I will do an electric fan combo, but will probably do something from a local swap meet. Right now I'll just concentrate on the radiator. Oh, this is for a 68 w/454, 4speed no AC. Thanks, Jason
