I plan to lower a touch and I wanted the same diameter tire front/rear and I wanted a little more sidewall look than the usual 245/275 combo. Plus a guy in my hood has these tires on his 68 Stang and it looks great. I should know how this will work/look around June. If the fronts rub I will go smaller but might as well start with the desire...... JV69z/28rs Feb 10th, 08, 10:05 AM 275! That's the "biggest" size that usually works. Lots of '69s have 275s on 9.5 with 5.5 backspace wheels but.............All these cars are a little different and what works on one may not work on another. You can also mix and match with wheel and tire sizes (like if a 275 doesn't work on a 9.5 wheel it may work with a 9 wide wheel. If the car has repo 1/4s on it they seem to have a little more room than stock 1/4s. You can roll the lips and pound in the inner wheel wells to gain clearence. Do a search this has been discussed over and over. While we can all give you examples of what has been proven to work on cars other than yours it doesn't guarantee it will work on yours. There are people here who have gotten as big as 295s on 10s to work but there are also people that have had to drop down to 255s on 9.5s because the 275s rubbed too bad. The point of all this you need to measure your car or test fit something close before you buy based on what we've told you. Good luck. |
