I decided to do a tune up on my 68 Camaro 250 6 Cylinder including wires, plugs, points, condenser, cap & rotor.

I put everything back together and the car will not start. there is no spark from the coil.

I set the points at .19 to spec, and tried to get a spark by putting a piece of paper between the points. Still no spark.

The only thing i can think of is that I forgot to turn off the ignition switch when I was changing the points and there were some sparks, but I don't see how that would affect it.

I have been working on it for hours, and am no newcomer to working on cars, although I have not worked on a points ignition in years. this is kicking my a@@....

Is there anything else I can check or may be missing?

By the way the coil is also new. And I tried all of the old parts to eliminate the new ones being bad.

test the + side of the coil with the key on with a 12 volt test lite, this will tell you if you at least have power to the coil.

I finally figured it out...... The terminal that connects to the points from the distibutor was grounded to the distributor body....

Boneheaded mistake....

Thanks for the reply...
