amartinson Feb 10th, 08, 09:09 AM If this guy's ad is correct, maybe the block and car can be reunited.

And despite his claim that it is good, it looks like #3 is cracked besides the chunks out of #1,2. Unbelievable. If it didn't go to the original car (doubtfull), I'm envisioning a "just discovered and restored original 67 Z28" up for sale in about a year..... Any bets on it having a rare "prototye" cowl hood and rear spoiler ?? :D
rszmjt Feb 11th, 08, 10:15 PM I emailed the seller harleyjim, he is a good guy and has a great reputation, he said it was pressure tested and Good with no cracks evident. I saw that line too, Dont think it was a crack though, just the picture. The chunks out of the bottom of #1 & # 2 cyls wont really hurt anything, there is no water until quite aways above that. Pretty Sure that most of the 67 Z28 vins are known or most accounted for? JMO.
Kurt S Feb 11th, 08, 11:12 PM That car is MIA. There may be nothing to reunite.
MichiganMan Feb 12th, 08, 04:33 AM I know a guy that has owned a 67 z28 since it was new. He has raced it for the last 25 yr's + I run into this car every year at the car show on the 4th of july. The next time im in owosso mi I will see if i can get some pics of the vin and tag if it is there.who know maybe its the mia car lol
Kurt S Feb 12th, 08, 06:31 AM You mean Ben Wenzel's car? Not the mia car.
MichiganMan Feb 12th, 08, 08:53 AM You mean Ben Wenzel's car? Not the mia car.
the guy that owns this car im refering to Kurt his name is Tim Spencer. That name wenzel sounds real familiar to me perhaps a New Lothrop resident ? by the way I mailed the paperwork this morning via snail mail
Musclerodz Feb 12th, 08, 10:11 AM There is a 67 Z/28 30 miles from me that has been a race car since '72. Tags are long gone. I would never believe it if I did not already know the guy that still has it and the guy that sold it to him.
Mike
Kurt S Feb 12th, 08, 11:15 AM Mike,
Thanks for sending those to me.
If you get data on Tim's car, I'd be interested (as always). :)
iluv69s Feb 16th, 08, 10:31 AM why couldn't it have been from one of my cars:(...:noway::noway::noway:...
probably would be too late now...someone bought it...I just noticed this thread....
Hey Kurt...
you have my permission to email, im, call me personally or knock on my door if one of my motors shows up,ok!!! At 3 in the morning!!!
too bad the car isn't known :(
coolll though... !!!
ChevyThunder Feb 16th, 08, 11:37 AM It would still be nice if the original 67 Z motor ended up in another 67 Z that is missing its original motor....I think that block is well worth 6k
Mud Rat Feb 17th, 08, 11:09 PM Didn't all 302 327 & 350 us the same block number Casting #3892659 Hoy can one verify what it is if the block has been decked. I Have been folowwing threds like this one trying to find ansewrs so I can find a 350 built be fore the second week of november-11B 4SP.
Bob
I asked this in the past but no one ever replyed to it.
rafbody Feb 18th, 08, 07:16 AM Actually the casting number is 3892657 and yes they were used for 302, 327 and 350 engines. Once they have been decked it is nearly impossible to tell what the engine was however a 350 block was a large journal where the 302 and 327 used a small journal so you could tell if it was a 350.
