I have about an inch of oil pan gasket that looks like it was blown out. What would cause this, also at high rpms would the oil come out alot more than at lower RPMs? This is right near the filter.

Silicone and overtightening a cork gasket with wet silicone causes this. You can just loosen the pan and push it back in, a little silicone if it ripped. But if you silicone it let it sit just snugged for a good long time before you tighten it.

Had a 91 ferd pickup that the pan gasket was smitherenes when we got it. I mean torn to bits and leakin quarts a day. I just pushed it all back in and siliconed it, let it sit just snug overnight and next AM tightened it. Held for 3 years.

I didnt do the pan. I bought the engine and the pan was already installed. I think i will try the silicone thing though. Might hold it well enough to seal the leak untill the next time i pull the motor.

Why don't you get a one piece oil pan gasket, and solve the problem once and for all. Before I tore my whole car apart, I put one on my motor while it was still in the car. Very simple to install. Just a thought.

Yes and you can usually get away with just lifting the engine a bit rather than taking it completely out to change the gasket.
