hey i have 67 camaro with a 327 engine with a powerglide


problem i am facing is that passenger side stock log style rear dump manifold is not lining up with heads.

ok there are 3 ports in total right
ok port 1 near the front and the center one line up on the bolt holes and they thread in no prob but the last port next to the dump is off by about 1/16, to 1/8 of a inch so i am unable to thread those bolts in without cross-threading them at a angle, what do u guys suggest, as everything is stock and these are original and just did a motor swap from a 6 to a 8 that is why i am trying to do this so i can get my exhaust done thanks, any tools or suggestions, i have tried bolting back to front and then both of the other ports are off, thanks

common problem with older manifolds, next gen manifolds had a cast brace to keep the ends spread and aligned. They used to sell a manifold 'spreader', its just a threaded sleeve with a screw portions on each end to spread the manifold. Might still find one at a auto parts store. bolt the center down and use the tool or fab one up.

what did u type to search i tired aligning tool for exhaust manifold

I always just start em up with the bolts out that don't line up and no gaskets, then while it's sitting there idling I put the others in. The heat does the trick:). Still sometimes it's a fight, and you have to loosen and tighten back and forth to make it grow the way you need. If you only need 1/8 it's a piece o cake.

I use the gaskets that drop in from above on manifolds.

yeah but the thing is the top end of the motor is not on and i am just sending the car to the exhaust shop so just want to get the manifolds on for the exhaust job

also i bought the mr.gasket engine rebuild gasket kit and it comes with white color exhaust manifold gaskets what side goes to the head and what side goes to the manifold they have writing on one side and the other side is plain and also the same for the intake

I would have NEVER believed the suckers could warp at all, much less that much until my next door neighbor Big John had one off a Blazer that was off by a 1/4"!!

Cast-iron ain't what it used ta be is all I can say!!
