I tried to order 17x8 ARE 200S rims with a 4.875 inch back space. My distributor told me they wont order anything except in 1/4 inch increments. I have read a couple threads where people have suggested this would be a better fit for fronts on a 69 camaro than 4.75". Anybody know for sure?
Thanks

With what tire size? You can always go with a 5" backspace and IF NEEDED use a spacer. Or if you don't want to do that go with the 4.75" backspace and drop back one tire size if you think that 1/8" is critical. It's always better to error on a little too much backspace than not enough. You can always push the wheel out a little if you have to but there is nothing you can do to bring it in a little.

Well that basically sucks man...I know we discussed this.
Did Jon @ www.driverzinc.com confirm this too?

If that's the case, order a 4.75" b/s and run 245/45's if you don't want to deal with spacers and longer wheel studs, should be no problem with your car...that combo works on mine just fine and it's low...as you know.

I will go with the 4.75" bs and try the 245. Your wheels look like they have a dull gray finish. Did they come this way or did you order them differently? The standard is a shinny grey paint. Did your center hubs come with the wheels?
Thanks

The 4 .75 are fine, do loads of them. I am ordering 18 X 8, 4,75 BS TT2s today.

Well...that's deceiving because there is a difference with the way the wheel looks on their site compared to the actual wheel. The wheel looks to have a "painted finish" on their site when in fact,it is a raw cast finish.
I would prefer them to be slightly darker myself to give them a more "muscular" look so I will probably paint them with cast blast or something similar...help them stay clean too.:yes:If you decide you want to paint yours,I would suggest doing so before you put them into service.

Also,AR recently changed the centercaps from the plastic "hex nut" look to a flat aluminum cap which I promptly shoved in my toolbox. The four 17x8's I ordered a few years back came with silver stickers on the plastic hex nut style and the two 17x9.5's I ordered most recently came with the alloy centercaps.I had several NOS plastic hex nut caps with these centers which I prefer and luckily,AR didn't change the way they attach so I use these:

I would go with 5" bs. My 245/40/18's rubbed BAD on the passenger side front with the 4.75" bs. I ended up going with the 5". I also think 235's look better on 8's than 245's. Keep the sidewall straighter.
