Hello,
I just recieved my Performer RPM Air Gap manifold and in reading through the instructions it says that by plumbing the rear water outlets to the front water crossover I can lower my coolant temps. Has anyone done this, and is it worth the extra expense for the fittings & hoses on a street car? The motor is a .040 over 4 bolt main 350 with Edelbrock Performer RPM everything that I am building to put into my '69 a soon as winter is done kicking Chicago's butt this year. I've spent way more than I planned too already, you know the drill, can't put that old part on this brand new whatever but cash is getting short. I can't find anything by searching the forums or the web.
Thanks.
Don

What the directions said is true, you can lower your coolant temp however its not a very substancial amount. The most you'd get is a 5-8 degree in temp reduction. Whats the temp rating on your thermostat? If you have 180 degrees or cooler, don't bother. If you have the 200 degree thermostat, might be a good idea if your thermostat is rather new.

I have a 468 BBC and did mine that way I was told buy a buddy of mine that its a good idea. I not sure how much it helped but it does I think stop hot spots in the top of the motor buy circulating front to back. I think it looks pretty cool to I used 90% in the back and 120% in the front with an-6 hose at a cost of about $120 dollars.

I also have a 468 but mine is equipped with a Weiand Team G intake. I am not using a heater in my car so this is what I did with my intake as it does not have the extra cylinder head cooling provisions in the intake like the Edelbrock Performer does. My big block idles at 185 degrees in traffic with no problems.
