I guess I must have a mental block here, but when you remove the heater box and all that for the vintage air gen IV install, what happens to the heater hoses. Don't just the compresser hoses go through the firewall in that hole that the heater core came from?
thanks, I know this is gonna be a dumn question, haha

both the a/c and the heater hoses come through the firewall in the hole from the old heater plenem.

So then you have 2 compresser hoses and 2 heater hoses going to the firewall? I didn't really want all that, haha, Does your original heater core go back in somehow, or is that a part of the gen IV kit. I guess I'm not visualizing this too well.
Thankls

Yes, you will have 4 hoses going through the firewall. You won't use your original heater core, vintage air has its own built in. It's all contained in one unit that fits under the dash.

RJ, talk to Frank at prodigy, or dig up some of his posts, there was a discussion on this not too long ago.
There's a few options.
Vintage passes the hoses thru grommets into the interior, not a great or great looking option, but cheap.
I've seen -AN bulkhead connectors for them, both 4 ina row and 4 square. These look good, but are expensive and visible.

What Frank has posted about is running the hoses (all four) up behind the front fender then in thru the hole where the original blower motor was and down thru thu the cowl. The hoses run straight out past the battery and vanish from sight.
This is both a cheap and a nearly invisible solution.

If you want bulk head fittings (A/N style or type) the unit MUST BE ordered this way, you can not buy one and do it, they are set up from the factory to use reg fittings and hoses.

Joe H. and Camaro67's installs are the "original" Vintage air system (first generation). The VA Gen 4 system (like I have) hose /firewall configuration is different. I guess I was wondering when you asked about the Gen 4 stuff and everyone is posting about the first gen stuff. They are different. If you are wanting to go with a cleaner firewall and Gen 4 system, get with Frank at www.gpsuperstore.com or at www.prodigycustoms.com (site sponsor) and he can get you going with a universal gen 4 unit so you can hide the routing of the hoses.

Umm I guess I should read more carfully before putting out info!! Good catch

So just so people know my pics and complaints are about the GEN ONE set up.

BTW
Chris are you going on the power tour this year? Need a co-driver? Co-driver or not you welcome to make a rest stop at my place on the way to Little Rock.
