View Full Version : Newbe owner of 67
Icemans_67 Feb 13th, 08, 02:03 PM Well I did it, I jumped off the deep end and bought a 67 convertible for my wife. She has always wanted a 1st gen and I found this one reasonable. I’m and engineer by profession but have always enjoyed working on cars and have been building engines since I was in my early teens, know I have a few years of building engines and doing general repairs on cars ( more than 25 years). I’ve had several classic and always got them to the primer stage before selling for money for college. We’ll this one will not get sold. Someone started the car and I have to say they bought a lot of pieces but installed nothing. The floors need replaced, which I have purchased the pans for them as well as a new floor support. Quarters are good, some rust in near the door, and the driver’s door has rusted out on the skin. The trunk is solid except for two spots above the muffler that have pin rust wholes I plan on re-skinning it. It was originally a black car, red deluxe interior with a white top. I was informed by the wife last night that it will be blue, with blue interior. It has a brand new black power top, I guess that will change to white too, but what a cool car to have. I’ll post some questions about welding in another post. So how do I post a photo of the 67?
Lost in the 60's Feb 13th, 08, 02:38 PM WELCOME.......:hurray:
You got the best year and a convert to boot........:D
Easiest way to post pics is to upload them to a host site such as cardomain, webshots, photobucket, etc. Then you can paste a direct link to a full size pic directly into the post. Please keep the pixel count on your camara low or crop them before posting. If they get bigger than our screens then we have to scroll side to side to take it all in.
Can't wait for pics....

blue ss Feb 14th, 08, 07:10 AM Looks good iceman! I have a 67 vert aswell. One spot you should look at during body work ( since you have to do the top ) Is where the top meets the trunk. Above the gutter. I caught mine. If I had someone do the top I may not have ever known it needed work. Save all paperwork from within the car! Enjoy Great project

68 Ragtop Feb 14th, 08, 10:26 AM How do you get the SS trim off around the top?
There are 6 phillips head screws, 3 on each piece.
They are on the underside of the trim and hard to get at.
Feel around for them, they are located at the ends and middle (corner) of each piece.
On another note, I love blue Camaros too, but they are very common.
The original Black exterior/Red deluxe interior is a fantastic combination you do not see at every car show. I encourage you to look at another Camaro in that combo before switching colors.

I agree... I'm not a Red on Black fan, but the Black on Red isn't common and is a head turner. My dad bought a 68 C10 new that was Black on Red and it was really sharp...
Blue is nice too.........here's a pic of my 88 IROC I just had painted 08 Corvette Jetstream Blue Metallic...

That is all new red interior, so we can keep that too! We have a black truck, black expedition, black blazer. So she doesn't want a black camaro, so my solution is sell or trade the others since they ain't classics, so they can be other colors! But then again it is hers.:D By the way I love the colors on yours!

I ran across this nice Black/Red 69 and thought you might like to see it.
Not a 67 and not a convertible, but you can see how well the combo goes together.

jay'srs/ss Feb 23rd, 08, 03:21 PM Congrats & Welcome!
I also vote for going back to stock colors. Black with red guts would look . I have a Red with black guts 67 Coupe, I almost painted it midnite blue but the car was already red so I went with it. That sure is gonna look great when it done, what ever color you(or you wife) choose. :beers:
