Feel like forever with the amount of hours put into it but I think we got it in the shop around last June or so. Of course ,there were a few delays when the customer requested we slow down on work and stuff (as to be expected with any job-especially when you hit holiday season!) but all in all- it was a great job to do. The customer really knew what he wanted and how to get there the right way.. Love that!

Interesting, two people made comments as to the year of the car reffering to it being a '67 or a '68, but no one really tied it together. The park lights up front would say its a '68, but the wing windows would say its a '67. Even the rendering has both. Were the wing windows added at some point of the cars history?, or the front clip changed? Beautiful car by the way, outstanding.

The renderings were done byMurray Pfaff and i beleive it isnt a program other than Photoshop where he designs the car according to my clients specs.
In this case, the client wasnt sure which look he wanted , so Murray offered up options.

The car is a 1967 . Sorry- I thought i had clarified that before in another post. As in any custom work, you cant always judge the book by its cover- it could have very well been another year with 67 or 68 headlights, taillights or what have you as its a custom build. Thanks for asking.

Hi there- the customer final wiring and interior and Im not sure when he plans ot have that finished( its being done elsewhere) - the car IS minitubbed - its Detroit Speed and Engineering mini tubs.

Once finished I am hoping he will bring it to at least Massachusetts shows... should be this season I hope.

The 69 that I am doing is for a buddy and he also used Murray Phaff. It cost like 800.00 for his renderings and my buddy still didnt like any of the pictures.

Murray is great at what he does- maybe your buddy didnt clarify enough on what he wanted? Not sure. $800 is about right I think and a small price to pay before delving into a very expensive project - only to find out you dont like what it looks like... I always suggest renderings first- save the customer a ton of heartache (and usually cash) so they dont have to re do something 'because its not what they like anymore'.

Had a customer who wanted the car done 'My Way' and every time we did what he wanted- he changed his mind after it was done- spent most of the 2+ years it was in my shop- doing and re doing the darn thing or updating his 'ideas'... :clonk:

Never again- renderings are the way to go!

This is a customers car correct? Is this what you do for a living and is it all rusteration work or do you do insurance body work as well. The reason I ask I have a shop at the house and when I get my car finished I'm not sure if I want to take on any old car resto and how to charge.I have a feeling from what every one who sees my car says that people are going to want there stuff done.I have one buddy that charges $55 hr and has five cars at his shop at all times and works on each one until the money runs out and the owners bring more. How do you make out do you make a good living doing this and is it your real job??? I don't mean to pry just curious because the work your doing looks like people would be banging your doors down to get theres done.

I wish- since I live in the Northeast - there is never a line for ANY shop out here..LOL

It is what I do for a living-(at least for the past 4 years) I own and operate my own 4300 sq ft shop a bit North of Boston. The only insurance work I will do is on a classic- I wont touch a daily driver newer model car-although I am licensed to do so- I feel it will take away from concentrating on the real craft.

I have customers are far away as California too-one of the reasons I have the webpages on my site showing the work being done- because not everyone can check up on whats going on every few weeks. Been doing this stuff 25 years now , so its not a new thing- just being on my own is fairly new.

I do have a waiting list for work but nothing that will make you wait 2 years liks the higher profile shops on the West Coast. :noway:

I think right now I am looking at cars to come in mid spring for work and if its a small welding job or a clean straight car just needing a paint job, they can be done in between the larger project. Usually depends on what you want done on when I can get you in as there are several builds going on right now.

I invoice my clients weekly. I charge an hourly rate consistent with the quality of work and the area in which I am located.

So far to seems to work OK. I have a full time staff of 3 ( a part time office staff) and a few part time guys because they specialize in certaing things (found one of my best metal guys on Craiglist of all things because he was looking for part time work)

Id be happy to speak with anyone about work if they'd like. I am always at the shop usually until at least 7pm every night if you want to call.

I would hesitate to take a job on 'at your house' . If you arent a licensed business , all it will take is some neighbor hearing you working on something they know isnt yours and youll have the whole town in an uproar and fines up the butt.Also- if you were ever injured while working on someone elses car - well that would be a nightmare in itself.

Im having an open house on 4/26/08 from 10-3pm too if anyone is interested to stop by , see whats going on , and chat about their projects .

Thought I would stick another pic of the car in here in case people forgot what we were talking about ...LOL

I have a question ...in alot of the drawings for 67 or 68 projects the cars sit really low in the front and it looks really cool. I would love to have my 67 sitting at that stance as seen in the project pics above, but how do you do that without the tires rubbing the inner fenders???

Well the renderings are drawings so they are an artists interpretation of what it 'should' look like but usually if you want to re create a stnace close to that , its all baout suspension , and chassis and alterations. I know thats a bit vague- did you have any specific question on how to do somehting or just wanted to get the idea....

The car will be at my Open House this year (May 9th 12-4p) if you want to see it up close and probably will be taking it to a few other shows-maybe the Camaro Nats (GM Nats) IN carlisle too.

I will most definatley be at the Rod &custom Nationals in MArlboro again this year (Aug 1&2) and the car will probably be there as well. (Thats a great show by the way)

Thanks for the response to my question, and I love the car. I think what I am wonderin is ......I've looked at my car and no matter what I do to get it that low " drop spindles, adustable shocks" I think it would rub the inner fenders so I guess im wondering do some people modify there inner fenders or is there some aftermarket ones you could buy. I did see a car sitting that low one time and it looked like they just took a cut-off wheel to there inner fender to get the job done. Anyway awesome car you did a killer job
