Don't have engine, trans, cross member, driveshaft...:( They supposedly exist but I havent followed up yet. Guy I bought it from bought it from another guy who supposedly has/had all that. Will have to call the guy I bought it from sometime and get the other guys number. Also don't have hood springs.

Anyway I got these numbers off the motor mounts on the frame.
-Drivers side 3912597
-Passenger side 3912598

-Has the heater box with the nipples coming out of the center.

-Has a 12 bolt rear end number is BT0307G2

Almost positive its original cause it was built a few weeks before the car.

-Has the steering wheel with SS on the horn, looks like its been there forever.

-Also has the SS gas cap and the chrome on it is pitted just as bad as the door handles and bumpers, tailights, etc.

-Also it had that reinforcment piece where the shifter comes through the floor. Well half of it cause it was chopped out to put some kind of transmission in there. Well none of it cause I cut that out to put a transmission patch panel in but I still have what I cut out, but it was there before.

-Has manual steering(does that matter?)

BUT it only has the 120 mph speedo and gas gauge, no tach. Looks like it had a console.

Is it enough evidence or without the engine can I not call it an SS? I kinda figured it should have a tach though.

tach AND gauges were OPTIONAL, not standard or required

the heater core and 12 bolt (assuming multileaf springs too) is as good as it gets

check for the drivers side exhaust hanger (dual exhaust)

check inside the glove box for the tire sticker

I would call it an SS

Those are BB frame bracket numbers for 1967-68. BT is a 3.55 posi rear end code for 1968-69. All cars other than some COPO cars had 120 mph speedo. Manual steering was the standard on all cars. I don't think 1967-68 had the reinforcement plate on the driver side for the tailpipe hanger. They used a threaded insert in the frame.

Sounds like you have a 68, which are hard to decode. Usually have drum brakes, manually steering box. Do you have the Original GM SS Hood with Louvers?
Yes SS don't come with Tachs or Gauge package that is an optional. 12-bolt should have Multi-leaf.

When I was under there I did notice threaded holes inside the drivers side frame where its at its highest point, 2 i think. No plate.

It is a 68

It didnt have the right springs when I got it it had some truck springs or soemthing.

I do have an SS hood but I don't think it was from the car. It is orange and the car itself looks like it went primers, white, primer, white.

I am really hopeing that the original engine is out there I just, this is stupid, don't want to call the guy I bought it from and tell him about my progress on the car. Or de-progress.
