:sad:The steering column on my 2000 Camaro b4c has about 1/4" up and down play.
:confused:How hard, and what procedure do I need to do to tighten the factory bolts?
Does the complete column has to be removed, or are bolts axcessable without?
Thanks for any advice.

It really depends on what's wrong. It's easy to secure the column to the car. If you're talking about the tilt mechanism, that isn't so easy. In any event, I'd recommend disarming the air-bag before working on it.

Thanks dave:
I am not sure it is in the tilt? However it could be.
I thought if it was in the mount to dash bottom, the two screws probably came loose and I could remove and put RED locktite on and reinstall them.
I guess I should try tightening them and see if that helps before the red locktite.
Are the dash mount screws easily axcessable without removing a bunch of stuff ?
Thanks again!!

Ray - 4th gens are known for the steering column problem. Sorry but it's not likely the whole column is loose. The ergonomic's of the interior tend to cause the driver to use the wheel as a point of leverage when getting in and out of the car and when adjusting ones seating position. Most people don't even realize they do it.

That said, to test and be sure, try using the tilt and place the wheel in different positions. You'll find some are tighter and some are looser if the problem is in the tilt. Maybe you will get lucky but unless you or someone else has unbolted the column and left the bolts loose it's not likely. To pay someone with the experience neded to fix your column is going to be about $500, more at a dealership. The air bag is the reason this work is so expensive...
