I have a 67 camaro ss thats a factory 396 400turbo car that someone put a 69 327 or 350 engine with a 400 turbo in it with a slapstick shifter because he was racing it. I was thinking about changing it to a muncie 4 speed car or maybe fineding a factory auto shifter and leaving the 400 turbo in it but all i see on ebay is the shifter for a 2 speed powerglide trans and not for sure if it would work.any suggestions for me thanks tom

The TH-400 was only available from the factory behind Big-blocks. What this means for you is it is hard to say what was done to your crossmember to make it work. Big-block engines are offset approx. 1" to the passenger side. The big block's frame stands are offset. I wonder if you have the correct frame mounts, or if they dropped a small block in on what was there. You can read up on frame and engine mounts on David Pozzi's web site. http://www.pozziracing.com/camaro_engine.htm As far as your question on the shifter... you can go to http://www.shiftworks.com or any of the camaro parts suppliers for what you need. For example: http://www.classicindustries.com/. Why are the mounts important you ask ? Well, there are small block and Big block z-bars for your clutch setup, as well as different crossmembers. You will want to know what you have, to figure out what else you need.

I have 69 Camaro (COPO clone) , with Big Block & Turbo 400. Car currently has B&M Hammer shifter which works well, but I dont like the look. I'd like use factort column shifter, but OEM linkage doesnt clear Hooker Headers.
Anybody have experience/knowledge of using LOKAR's linkage to make column shifter connect to T-400 ??????????
Thanks
