BlackoutSteve Feb 16th, 08, 08:47 PM Enquire about an asymmetrical 2-post. They allow more clearance for doors to be opened. 68fan Feb 16th, 08, 10:48 PM Also want it to fit under 9 ft ceiling. 68fan Feb 16th, 08, 11:52 PM I'v found several reasonable priced lifts on the internet. Unfortunately, most are symmetric which will affect opening doors. The downside of asymmetric lifts is the safety issue. Oldrocker Feb 17th, 08, 09:33 AM I'v found several reasonable priced lifts on the internet. Unfortunately, most are symmetric which will affect opening doors. The downside of asymmetric lifts is the safety issue. I've used asymmetrical lifts for 20 years and no problems to date. These lifts are balanced for asymmetric use. As long as they are used as the manufacturer recommends and installed properly there should be no problems. If overloaded then any lift is dangerous. Also it is worth the money to buy a quality lift that meets ISO9001 standards or at least a member of Automotive Lift Institute. There are some out there that are cheap junk. If you buy cheap, well you know, you get what you pay for. And I wouldn't stand under anything cheap. I have 2 rotary lifts, one a 7000 LB. and one is 9000LB., that have worked flawlessly since 1995. Before that I used a Mohawk at another shop. I use them all day, 5 days a week so they get a workout. As for Eagle I've not had any experence with them. I do see that they are a member of the Automotive Lift Insitute so that is a plus. onovakind67 Feb 17th, 08, 09:59 AM Also want it to fit under 9 ft ceiling. That's not going to give you much room under the car. click Feb 17th, 08, 10:35 AM Hop into Search button and type in 'lift' or other similar words. There are tons of posts, mostly in Bench section that discuss all the types of lifts folks have used. :) |
