Installing vintage ac system using stock center vent. I am trying to adapt the center vent so it does not spin. o-ring appears to give the correct gap to make a snug fit on the center vent, but unsure if that would wear to quickly. Nylon or Rubber? Once installed it would be difficult to get at. Also working on block issue so vent does not push backwards in bracket. I am using the vintage part so it does not block the vent from sliding back.
Thanks for any opinion on this subject.

I used some round velcro buttons I found at a fabric store. I used, as I recall, two of the loop (soft) side buttons on either side of the vent. I used a gasket punch to make holes in the center of each button.

Its been a long time, 15+ years and the vent still works fine. Moves easily and stays where its put.

Yup. that works perfect. Thanks. Also, I am bending a small brace to attach to the back of the bracket to keep the vent from pushing out the back. It will bend over the corner and brace up against the angle and attach with the mounting screw at the back. Looks like it will work fine. Thanks again.

Ahh. I do not think my angle bracket will work. Anyone know why the center vent was designed to slide out the back of the bracket? I am thinking of just epoxying tabs in the slide slots to hold the vent from sliding back. Open to others ideas or suggestions!
Thanks.
