I'm almost ready to drive my 67rs. It has manual steering. Never had a car with manual steering. Is this car going to be a pain to drive?

My '67 has manual steering as well. Don't expect to be able to turn the wheel at a dead stop, but get rolling a bit and it's fine. I drive mine almost every day.

Although i never driven my 68 with manual steering other than rolling around the yard, it woulnt be as bad as you think.

I don’t mind manual steering in most vehicles but my ’67 Camaro (with skinny tires) was really hard to turn at low speeds with manual steering. I have driven dump trucks with manual steering that were easier to parallel park.

After I installed power steering it was like driving a different car. PS made a huge improvement to the way my ’67 drives and I can park effortlessly even with wide tires.

I'm with ya Steve. A couple times around the neighborhood and I switched to PS. Aside from the effort, most of them are worn and sloppy so the car wanders bad..... Seems the fluid going thru the PS unit keeps it from wearing as bad....;)

My 67 big block with manual steering is very easy to turn. I owned a 69 AMX that had manual steering and there was no way you could ever turn the steering wheel with out the wheels rolling and then it wasn't much better. It felt like you were going to break the steering wheel.

My 68 with manual is no problem. I switched front tires last year, went from a 215/60/15 to a 225/60/15 it it got a ton better. I figured it would be tougher but geeze you'd thought it had power steering it turned so well. Tires seam to make a big difference

68 SS 350 car with 4 speed and manual steering. I love it. The feel on the road is so much better than with power steering. I think it adds to the muscle car experience. PS to me is another creature comfort, like AC, that has no place on a muscle car. Just my $.02, I know most don't agree. My 68RS, 68Z, 69SS never had PS (the 69 came with it, but it was removed when new as the car was modified for drag racing when originally purchased). It is a little tougher to parallel park, but the engine bay looks much better without PS and I don't think you really need it. You may decide you need it, but I'd give it a try first. Most seem to like PS, I'm not one.

Had a '69 4 sp car with manaul steering, loved it. Better control and feel than the stk pinky steer.

I'd go with PS! much more convenient not to mention comfortable/easy.

Yeah, Manuel is a little tough. especially if your steering column bearings are a little worn..
I used Speeddirect.com 's Steeroids Rack and pinion system on my 67...
great for a daily driver... made it drive so nice, and you get much more input from the road.
just a tip if you can afford it. I think they still run a little under a 1000 for the kit..
ive had mine for 8 years now (worth every penny if you plan to drive in the city)
