I thought when I purchaced my Camaro it had originally been a automatic.Inside the car there is no area on the steering column where the auto. shifter would had attached to the steering column. But, between the firewall and the steering box, there is a arm protruding where auto trans linkage would have attached. The steering column look factory. Now my question... Could this car been a manual trans even though it appears to have an arm for an auto tranny?
The clutch/brake assemble also appears to be factory like it wasn't a conversion.I'll respond back. Any info would be great!!!

It sounds like your car may have a console shift style automatic column. With the shifter in the console there is linkage to the column for steering wheel locking. Look at the floorboard one smaller hole about 2" dia. where the shift cable goes through would be for an automatic. A larger hole in the floorboard is required for the manual shifter.
