My son and his buddy are attempting to pull the trans out of his buddy's 95 Z28. They have pulled the driveshaft, torque bar, converter bolts, shifter linkage, cooling lines and any wires going to the trans. Is there a trick to getting to the bellhousing bolts? I have suggested they drop the exhaust, crossmember and lower the back of the transmission. Is this the proper method? They are working on this while I'm at work and I just wnat to tell them the proper methodfor the access to the trans to block bolt removal. .
Thanks, Chip.

drop the cross member first than tranny will drop down some long extension and a swivel should get the upper ones.

Thanks a bunch, that is what I was thinking but wanted to make certain that was normal procedure. The boys don't want me to do anything but double check their work. They want to be able to say they did everything on the car. Besides, they made a red lake under the car and haven't cleaned it up yet. They sort of listened regarding draining the trans, they pulled one corner of the pan down but failed to heed my warning to leave a couple bolts in it so it didn't drop on the floor. Once the corner was loose, so was the whole pan.
