I read somewhere that you could tell if a 1969 Camaro came from the factory with a Big Block (BB) or a Small Block (SM) by the way the heater hoses came out from the heater box (BB) or the firewall (SM). Is this true ?:beers: I need a beer...

Yes for the most part that is true... From under the hood look at the firewall and heater box. If the 2 hose connections are on the right edge of the heater box it's not a big block. This is true for non-air cars only...

Oh "OK" so if the car was ordered with A/C and a Big Block then the heater hoses would come out thru the A/C unit and not the heater box.
Is this true ?

A/C cars used a different firewall than heater cars - heater core pipes on A/C cars come through the A/C unit, outboard of the main portion of the A/C evaporator housing - between it and the blower motor; same arrangement on SB or BB.

Heater cars were different. SB cars had the core pipes come through the firewall just inboard of the inboard edge of the blower case, and BB cars had the core pipes come through the center of the blower case so they'd clear the back corner of the cylinder heads.
