I just bought a 1984 z28 and the owner before me broke the handle on the outside of the door and now the door wont open . the inside latch wont work either so I need to figure out how to get the door open, so I can take the door panel apart to fix it. any help would be appreciated.

Can you take the handle off from the outside? I dont have my car handy, but there may be a piece of the broken handle that you can get a needle nose pliers on and pull up to open. The inside handle has a rod that goes back to the latch.

Last resort would be to take the inside door panel off, if possible.

Most tow companies have the "lockout" tools to do it. It's a "slimjim" tool. Do you have AAA road service? They'll do it for free if you are a member.

just an update, got the door open last night . I was able to sick a long screw driver down the window jam and push the rod until it popped the
latch open . now I just have to take the door panel off and figure out
what is wrong with the latch and door handle . thanks Guys.
