I am very close to dropping out my powerglide out of my 69 Camaro and will be installing my muncie M-20. I have my vehicle up on stands and doing everything from underneath. My question is this, after the flywheel and clutch assembly is installed and aligned, should I bolt my bellhousing first then install my transmission, or install the bell housing and transmission as a unit. I am doing this solo, so I thought of bolting up the housing first my ease the process. And yes I have done this before, but it was about 24 years ago under a 72 Camaro, but my memory escapes me.

Yes, bolt up the bellhousing and then mate up the tranny.

Yes put the bell on first with the fork and throwout bearing in place. Don't worry about the bearing being totaly centered in the fork, it line itself on the input shaft.
Do make sure the bearing is on the fork correctly, meaning the two spring tabs go under the lip.
When you get the tranny within ~1" and it won't go any further, don't use the bolts to pull it in, have someone push the clutch pedal in the help move things around.

Great advice, forgot to mention that.

Thanks guys. All great info.I was watching one of the auto shows and they were mating the tranny with the bellhousing already on it, but they had the motor out so adjusting was a breeze.
Yes pilot bearing, I just dropped out the powerglide and inspected where the pilot bearing will go. Now I will take everything slowly.
