Hey all,
Who sells shoulder seat belts for '69 Camaro? Saw some in Rick's catalog but said discontinued. Any one have any ideas where to buy them?
Thanks Doug

Are you looking for the original style, or for the new ones that emulate modern retractable belts? I installed the retractable ones in my '68 and they are terrific. Very easy to use (which encourages usage) and MUCH safer (easier to get out of quickly) IMHO.

Yeah I want original style. Jim, do you have a web address or contact for Billy? I googled it and came up empty. Thanks so much.

But you said you wanted original style, these are new retractable style.

Yeah, I would also like to know who sells new 69 shoulder belts too. Are they sold seperately or do them come in a kit with the lap belts?
I looked at the Morris 3pt retractable belts too and they look like a nice piece, but the only thing that I don't like is that these cars have no B pillar to hide the belt behind like on modern cars, so the belt is always hanging in plane view. Would be nice if there was a quick release on the roof to retract the belt to the side of the seat or hide it under the seat at car shows. Or maybe a retractable 3 pt. unit that was attached or built into the seat instead(If the floor could hold this). I am currently shopping for all new belts for my car and am trying to decide on what setup to go with. Unfortunately new seats are not in my budget right now!

Here's a pic of mine installed. Granted, these seats are from a '94 Camaro, so I am not truly "original". But since my '68 seats had no head rests, I was more concerned with surviving being rear-ended. Anyway, the belts are surely visible, but not bad IMO. Then again, I'm no purist.......

To my knowledge, nobody sells new.

There is a guy in the Denver area that I bought mine from.
The name of his shop is Tom's Trim Shop.
I will try to find his card or come up with a number for you....

I guess I should have stated I wanted original style. I really like the new style, but I'm staying stock. So if anyone knows where to get the original style shoulder belts please let me know.
Thanks so much.

Doug,
I bought my original styles from this guy:

Tom's Trim
Arvada, Colorado
303-425-5162

E-mail toms_trim@yahoo.com

They were used, but in beautiful condition.

Hope this helps....

Is it true that no companies sell the shoulder belt? Why is this? Why can you buy all new lap belts but not the shoulder belt?

I have the old ones that came with my car when I bought it, but I am not sure how strong these still are and thats why i was looking for a new set for safety reasons.

Chevy SS, my car is not completely original either and safety is my first concern, but if I can get the same safety with the original shoulder and lap setup then thats the way I am leaning right now. I like the convenience of the 3pt morris belts, but just not a big fan of it hanging down the side of the car, especially at a car show with the windows down. Nice seats but the way.

Sean, IMO the originals aren't as safe as the new ones - specifically, they firmly restrict your movement so the tendency is to wear them loose, and as we all know, a loose shoulder belt is a bad thing in a wreck.

Classic Industries has a pretty big selection of seat belts and the combined lap-shoulder belt setup for like $279/pair.

The Camaro shoulder belt is very easy to find because the same style was used for many years in many models. I still see them in the junkyard on a regular basis. The hard to find parts are the original retractors in good condition.
There are a bunch of places that reweb and restore belts, they can probably provide the shoulder belt part without a core because ethey are so common.
Do a web or ebay search, or try this place:
