Experience is a big plus. A hydraulic press is needed to press the bearings off and onto the carrier, as well as the pinion bearings. The pinion needs to be shimmed to get the correct tooth contact pattern, which could require the brearing to be pressed on and off a number of times. You'll need a good magnetic base dial indicator to set the backlash, which is adjusted by shimming the carrier. Search here for posts by BigGearHead to learn about this procedure. Freddy is no longer active on the forum, and we miss him soo much, but much of his knowledge, experience, and patience is in the archives. DOUG G Feb 28th, 08, 05:41 PM Hard ?... not too bad. Does require patience, and a few special tools for the job..... and more patience  lil red camaro Feb 28th, 08, 07:59 PM aight thx |
