I am almost finished with my power disc conversion on my 68 Coupe.

I have everything put back, double checked all my bolts, cotter pins, etc and lubed the new ball joints.
I have one problem...the banjo bolt on the caliper is leaking. I don't want to tighten it too much for fear of causing worse problems.

The hoses and calipers are brand new.

Will replacing the copper washers fix the leak? It seems like a brand new assembly should not leak.

Is there a torque spec for the banjo bolts?

There should have been copper sealing washers provided, two each per bolt. Copper takes a set and time, tighten, let sit for 15-30 minutes, retighten. Copper will conform to the surface irregularity. Repeat until leak stops.

Thirty-five ft./lbs. I think, is the torque setting.

If I remember corectly the washers need to face one another or am I wrong...

I had the same problem last week, all new stuff and both sides leaked. I had to tighten it way more than I was comfortable with but it did finally stop. I think the copper washers I got were alot harder than they should have been, you may want to try different washers if you don't want to really lay on torque.
I think the torq spec is in the 35-40ftlbs range.

Another quick check is to make sure you have the correct side of the fitting facing the caliper. In the pic you can see the brass on one side is milled flat all the way to the hose. That's the side that mates up to the caliper.
